Get in the Hearing Loop
The Hearing Loss Association of America, Santa Barbara Chapter supports “Get in the Hearing Loop” and “Let’s Loop Santa Barbara” Campaigns.
“Let’s Loop Santa Barbara” was started in June 2013 with the help of a grant obtained by the Independent Living Resource Center, Inc. (ILRC). The focus of the “Let’s Loop Santa Barbara” campaign is to educate local residents, hearing professionals, businesses and venues about hearing loop technology, its benefits and its countless applications. Hearing loops can be used in large gathering spaces, in transient situations such as doctors’ offices, ticket counters, bank teller windows, drive thru windows, and any other place where speech comprehension is crucial. Home loop systems are also available for connecting to TVs and stereo systems.
In February 2010, the Hearing Loss Association of America, on behalf of people with hearing loss and the American Academy of Audiology, on behalf of audiologists, announced a collaborative public education campaign, “Get in the Hearing Loop”. This campaign has gained a lot of momentum with the addition of Juliëtte Sterkens, AuD, as HLAA’s Hearing Loop Advocate in July 2012.
